Undenatured Type II collagen has been extensively investigated as nutritional support for joint health.
Clinical studies have examined its effects on joint discomfort, flexibility, function and exercise-related joint symptoms. A 2026 randomised controlled trial found that 40 mg daily of native Type II collagen was associated with earlier improvements in several measures of joint function compared with placebo.
Other controlled studies have reported improvements in knee extension and exercise-related joint discomfort following supplementation.
These findings support continued research into undenatured Type II collagen as a targeted approach to maintaining healthy joint function.
